Welcome FishDog Farm! This is their first season at Florence Farmers Market and we are so pleased to have them join us. FishDog Farm, founded and operated by Alex Dallman and Nick Kleeman, is a regenerative, pasture-based livestock operation in Walton, Oregon. They raise multi-species livestock: pasture-raised poultry, grass-fed and finished lamb and beef, pigs in silvopasture, and outdoor-grown shiitake mushrooms using soil-first, ecologically sound practices that improve biodiversity and strengthen the local food system. Their mission is to model a financially resilient path for small-scale regenerative agriculture, nourish their community, and protect their local ecosystem.

We envision a future where regional farms thrive by producing the highest-quality food within living systems that support long-term ecosystem health. FishDog Farm aims to help redefine what agricultural success looks like, where soil health, farmer well-being, and community access to nutritious food are inseparable. Our long-term vision is a local food economy rooted in transparency, ecological restoration, and fairness, where people in their communities know their farmers by name.
Alex shared that they raise Freedom Ranger chickens, a hardy heritage breed that naturally thrives on pasture, foraging, scratching. They are self reliant hardy birds. They started growing mushrooms on 100 alder logs and had such a great experience they have now added another 100 logs. Their shiitakes are all grown outdoors without the use of plastics or alternative substrates.
You’ll find Alex with their pasture raised whole chickens and gorgeous shiitake mushrooms most every Tuesday 3-6pm. Be sure to stop by, even if just to say hello and welcome!
